Project: Construction of High Performance Amorphous FePO4-C Nanocomposites as Battery Cathode

1. Introduce hybrid carbon additives into the amorphous FePO4 cathode as a hierarchical 3D conductive network.

The composites of a-FePO4, carbon black, and carbon nanotubes exhibited distinct advantages of low cost and excellent rate capacity over the composites of α-FePO4 and CNT, indicating the importance of optimizing the hierarchical structure of cathode composites.

2. Synthesis of amorphous FePO4-carbon nanotubes composites by a fast nanoprecipitation process

Nanostructured a-FePO4-CNT composites were directly synthesized by a fast precipitation technique in a membrane dispersion microreactor, which performed very well in terms of specific capacity and capacity retention. Furthermore, the approach is flexible to control the ratio of FePO4 to carbon and ensure the high purity of FePO4 without additional reagents requirement.
